Sentencing was scheduled this morning for Kattie Yocum. It was continued to December 26 at defense request so Deputy Public Defender Brie Bennett could file a supplemental report correcting "a number of errors".
Ms. Bennett also asked for a drug court analysis despite the fact that probation did not reccomend probation. People did not object to the continuance because they had not received the probation report.
Yocum can only be eligible for drug court if she is gets probation. Even Ms. Bennett acknowledged the chances of that happening were slim.
On November 9, Yocum plead no contest to an added count 2 : "unlawful causing of fire" to a structure, PC 452 (c), and admitted violation of parole. Her misdemeanor case was dismissed. The range of sentencing for pc 452 (c) is 16 months, two years or three years.
Yocum had been charged with arson of the Blue Heron.
Deputy Public Defender Brie Bennett was appointed to represent Yocum. Deputy District Attorney Adrian Kamada prosecuted the case.
