$60,000 bail for Steven Martinez who fled from HCSO; had 4 outstanding warrants

On 08-06-17, at approximately 5:11pm, Humboldt County Sheriff's Deputies responded to 173 Bowie Rd, Loleta for a report of a custody dispute.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted Steven Martinez who was sitting outside the residence with a minor child in his lap. Martinez was advised to hand over the child to a friend because he had four outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Deputies attempted to place Martinez into custody when he fled into the residence and attempted to slam the door shut on deputies. Deputies were able to follow him inside the residence where he struck a deputy in the face.  Martinez shoved another deputy and fled out the back door.

Martinez ran into the garage of a neighboring residence with deputies giving chase. Martinez attempted to enter the residence when deputies deployed a Taser. Martinez was taken into custody, transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.  After being cleared from the hospital, he was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for Battery on a Peace Officer, and the four warrants. His bail has been set at $60,000.
