This is a perfect example of political agenda and misuse of the Public Records Act to silence what unions and Democrats don't like in ultra liberal parts of California.
Illegal immigration is against the law; was against the law before President Trump was elected.
Aren't labor unions supposed to protect the working class citizens? Of course, Senate Bill 54, which would make the state a sanctuary, was introduced by state Sen. Kevin de León of Los Angeles.
Why are liberal Democrats fighting so hard for illegal aliens as well as against President Trump's other efforts to protect citizens against the drug cartels and drugs flowing into America, specifically from border states?
Excerpt from Courthouse News:
"Two labor groups have sued Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell seeking a court order to release communications between his department and the Trump administration about California’s sanctuary bill."
"The Service Employees International Union United Service Workers West, or USWW, and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, or NDLON, sued McDonnell in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Aug. 9. The complaint was made available Thursday."

So unions are using dues, not to directly benefit their dues paying members, but to sue the elected Sheriff of Los Angeles County to require him to provide information on communications he may have had about business between the LACo Sheriff's Department and the US Department of Justice.
ReplyDeleteIf this were something which directly influences their members that would be one thing. If this were something which was NOT interfering in the legitimate activities of an elected official who answers to the LACo Board of Supervisors the maybe, maybe this would not be a drum-banging exercise in sticking their nose where it doesn't belong.
Guess it must be easier to hire an expensive attorney (actually, probably several, or maybe they're already on retainer to SEIU) that to have bothered to read the duties & responsibilities of this elected official.
And (not you John, but others) don't kid yourself that they're really so committed to helping the undocumented. What they're committed to is expanding their power base, and the less educated they are, the easier to (mis) use them.
I get it. A police chief provides information on good policies and programs that his office uses. Or has discussion about future plans. Those are known as conferences, participating in study groups, contributing to ongoing discussions. Most people in business use one form or another to improve themselves or others. Simplest word? S-H-A-R-I-N-G.
SEIU and others have chosen another world: Colluding.
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/colluding
"verb (used without object), colluded, colluding.
1.
to act together through a secret understanding, especially with evil or harmful intent.
2.
to conspire in a fraud.
So now we know where they're coming from. I don't care what the subject of the lawsuit it, the point is a union is trying to defame an elected official and also trying to influence public policy through personal attacks and lies.
Others hold negative views of the union. Here's their take:
