Michael Acosta's court appointed attorney is Mr. Zachary Curtis. There is a confirmation of counsel in Acosta's case on 3/9.
Mr. Curtis is a former Deputy District Attorney. He went into private practice as a criminal defense attorney. I heard from a few different sources that Curtis is joining the Conflict Counsel's office. The confirmation of counsel in Acosta's case should answer that question definitively.
I reported last July that Mr. David Nims went from private practice to joining the Public Defender's office.
