Matthew Owen, Humboldt's wannabe Bill Maher, who has been ranting the same cut and paste for almost two decades still has a column in the Times Standard. Why? Even Lost Coast Outpost flushed the turd.
TS couldn't find anyone else less repulsive or someone that people may actually want to read in all of Humboldt County? Someone showed me the vomit Matty Boy turned out in his latest My Word.
The man who did even worse than Arnie Klein and Michael Acosta in his failed bid for Eureka City Council and the blowhard who has been riding on Virginia Bass' coattails for years copied the Bill Maher script of attacking "wokeness." Like Maher, Matty boy is fake with no principles, talentless, desperate for attention and an opportunist.
Matt, are you and Virginia separated or divorced yet? Or are you still using sale of the house as an excuse to hang around her? Virginia certainly has moved on and that has not been a secret in Humboldt for months.
Matt, the lesser half of Humboldt's version of the Bill and Hillary marriage, called out local media in his latest "column" for omitting a response by the female business owner in response to First District Supervisor Rex Bohn sexist and tasteless remark at a recent Eureka Chamber of Commerce event.
I am not going to defend other local media. They certainly have never stood up for me and they can take care of themselves. To omit a remark, one needs to know about it. Matt, how do you know what any local media knows or did not know about that female business owner's response? That fact was omitted in the garbage that TS passes off as a "column" by Matty boy.
Matty boy, not all of us can sit around and pretend we work while doing campaign work and working on drafts of cut and paste. Not all of us can waste dollars at highly priced events that the same group of people frequent in Humboldt. We could, but most of these events are full of bores like you stroking your egos. We could sit around and do nothing but socialize if we had a job only because daddy's business is Humboldt 5th generation or we used our wives and husbands as a stepping stool.
Despite Rex making a joke of you and despising you, here you are defending him, attacking valid news and being dismissive of the rampant sexism in Humboldt. You must have forgotten that I have been around you, Richard Marks, David Tyson and several others and heard your locker boy jokes. I have heard the tacky drunk remarks and seen the ogling of women.
Matthew, you aren't a columnist, an influencer or an expert on news and should never be associated with any media outlet that has standards or is a valid source of journalism. You are not and never will be the ladies man you think you are.
You can sign your name and insert yourself into any campaign and claim to support any candidate but no one cares what you think. You failed when you ran for City Council; you failed to deliver in the elections Virginia barely won. Her narrow victory was thanks to others; not you. Your wife or whatever your current relationship with Virginia is now chose not to run for re-election because if she had, she would have lost. You are a big part of Virginia losing friends and supporters.
Weren't you fired from Wells Fargo? Then you sat around the house for months unable to get a job.
Calling former EPD Police Chief Andy Mills for stats then cut and past to pass it off as a column which you edited at work. You never had an original thought, just take credit for other people's ideas and hard work. Playing both sides. Conning gullible old Republican women to volunteer for Virginia's campaign, playing you don't want a liberal in office while paling around with Hanky Sims and Thad Greenson.
Go back to L.A. if you think you are all that; you won't.
You asked me once, why do people hate me? Look in the mirror. Look at how you use people. Look at your own disgusting sexism. That alone should give you a clue for a few days. Many people are hated and despised in Humboldt. Some because they do good, speak up and bluntly. Others like you Matt, because you have brought it on yourself. You are pathetic, sexist, joke not worthy to be called a man.
Unlike you, Virginia and many others in Humboldt; I say what I think and feel about other people openly. I don't make fun of people or judge them behind closed doors. You shouldn't have a problem with what I say Matty because you claim you believe in the First Amendment and free speech. So much that you feel the need to have that printed with every My Word with your name on it.
