On Feb. 25, 2023, at about 12:01 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence the 800 block of Nooning Creek Road near Whitethorn for the report of an assault.
At the residence, deputies contacted the suspect, 28-year-old Terrance Shayne Longjaw and located a 26-year-old male victim with serious injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, then transferred to an out-of-county hospital for treatment of his injuries.
During their investigation, deputies learned that the victim and Longjaw were acquaintances. That evening, the two were reportedly involved in some type of altercation, during which Longjaw physically assaulted the victim causing extensive injuries.
Longjaw was arrested without incident and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of assault causing great bodily injury (PC 245(a)(4)).
