Confirming a jury trial in Humboldt these days just means holding place in the queue

I haven't been covering Timothy Ziegler for a while. As with many cases, the impact of COVID 19, is a lot of resetting and continuances.

On January 19, trial confirmation was scheduled for Ziegler. Jury trial for February 1 was confirmed.

Whether it will actually proceed is something that will be decided at trial assignment. With COVID 19 and only one trial allowed at a time, Ziegler is in the queue but there are other trials ahead of his case.

Ziegler charges including assault, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and violating a court order. He is out of custody.

Ziegler's attorney is Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin. Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees appeared for the People at the last court hearing. Time estimate is 15 days.

1/29/21: Trial confirmation was rescheduled for March 12; jury trial for March 15.
