Dylan Roberts booked for vandalism, assault and battery from incident in Mckinleyville last night
On Feb. 11, 2019, at about 10:50 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 1400 block of Reasor Road in McKinleyvile for the report of a possible gunshot victim.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located a 29-year-old male victim with injuries to his head. Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the male victim had been sitting on his porch when he observed a male subject break the window of a neighbor’s vehicle and then flee on foot toward Larissa Circle.
The victim, and another subject, chased the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Dylan James Roberts of McKinleyville, to Larissa Circle and encountered the suspect and two unknown male subjects with firearms. During the encounter, the victim was struck on the head with what is believed to be a firearm or another blunt object. The victim did not sustain a gunshot-related injury. The victim was able to flee back to his residence and call for help.
While deputies were on scene investigating, another deputy began to patrol the Reasor Road / Larissa Court area. The deputy observed a male subject matching the description of Roberts running southbound from Larissa Circle and into a residence’s garage on the 2600 block of Wanda Lane. The deputy contacted the occupant of the residence and confirmed that Roberts was inside of the garage. Roberts complied with the deputy’s requests to exit the garage and was taken into custody without further incident.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.
Roberts was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of felony vandalism, assault and battery.
The two unknown male subjects associated with Roberts are still outstanding. Anyone with information regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
