Jorden Sterling held to answer in latest case; cross examination raises good questions

Today, after HCSO Deputy Dustin Delbiaggo's testimony and arguments by Deputy District Attorney Josh Rosenfeld and Deputy Conflict Counsel David Lee,  Judge Timothy Canning held Sterling to answer to Count 1 and all special allegations.

Arraignment on information is scheduled for January 10.

" I found two Bear River Casino cards with Mr. Sterling's name on it," said Deputy Delbiaggio. Under questioning by  Mr. Rosenfeld, Deputy Delbiaggio described getting the call from dispatch and what led to Sterling's arrest.

During cross examination, Mr. Lee asked Deputy Delbiaggio about a text message, the alleged victim "Mr. Mendez making arrangements to buy the vehicle", why it took the alleged victim two and half hours to report the crime, verification regarding a cell phone and whether the $5,000 cash was the entire payment for the purchase of the vehicle.

Deputy Delbiaggio did not have an answer regarding why it took the victim a couple of hours to call law enforcement. Deputy Delbiaggio also did not know if the entire $5,000 was to buy the car.

While Mr. Lee was questioning Deputy Delbiaggio, Sterling kept interrupting and talking to Mr. Lee. Sterling's tone expressed frustration.

Sterling's preliminary hearing scheduled for December 26 was continued by stipulation to December 27.
