"Cy Vandermeer, former HSU assistant head basketball coach, and St. Bernard's Athletic director was arrested for Burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of stolen property yesterday.
He was fired from his job this summer at St. Bernard's for stealing a women's purse and writing checks to himself, although the woman did not pursue charges, the board let him go.
He works with local AAU basketball teams as a head coach. I feel like the community needs to know this information for the safety of their children. "
This is a comment that was sent this morning by Bill Thompson. Yesterday, more than one person contacted me about Vandermeer being fired from St. Bernard's and concerns.
I reached out to St. Bernard' s Paul Shanahan. He responded, "Thank you for reaching out. I cannot comment due to it being a personnel matter."
