LA woman who yelled, "Go back to your country" pleads to one count of elder abuse and infliction of injury
A 30-year-old woman entered a no contest plea today for severely injuring a 91-year-old man with a brick in Willowbrook this summer, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Frank Dunnick said Laquisha Jones (dob 3/10/88) of Los Angeles entered the plea to one count of elder abuse, infliction of injury.
Jones also admitted allegations of using a deadly and dangerous weapon, a brick, during the commission of the crime and that she inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim. The defendant also admitted that she was convicted in 2017 of making criminal threats.
Jones is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 28 in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Compton Branch. Jones is facing 15 years in state prison.
On the evening of July 4, without provocation, Jones attacked the elderly man, who is now 92, with a brick near 118th and Robin streets in Willowbrook.
Following the reported assault, the victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and Jones fled the scene, according to the prosecutor.
After conducting further investigation, law enforcement identified Jones as the assailant and arrested her on July 10, the prosecutor added.
Case TA146529 was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
