Preliminary hearing for Mexican citizen Hugo Aguirre vacated

Preliminary hearing for Mexican citizen Hugo Parral- Aguirre scheduled for May 9 was vacated today. Instead, setting for that hearing is scheduled for the same day.

Aguirre's attorney, Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell made a motion to continue at the intervention hearing this afternoon. This was after discussion with Deputy District Attorney Josh Rosenfeld. The motion was granted by Judge Dale Reinholtsen.

The defense is waiting to get some additional discovery. The District Attorney's office is checking on witness availability and the DA is expected to have information on when this discovery is available.

A 60 day waiver was not entered today. If necessary, that issue will be addressed at the next court hearing.

At the last hearing, the DA's office requested a continuance.

Aguirre is charged with attempted murder of a HCSO deputy and assault of a HCSO Sgt.
