"Dylan, don't do it!", man screams as Wilson is filling out plea form in his alleged rape case

Preliminary hearing for Dylan Wilson was scheduled this morning. After speaking with Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield, saying, "I understand," something about yes to a CLETS protective order, Wilson was filling out a plea form.

"Dylan, don't do it," screamed a man sitting in the audience. He was with an older woman. "He has schizophrenia, he doesn't understand!"

The bailiff came over and spoke with this man as Mr. Brownfield came over to speak with him. The man and woman left the courtroom with Mr. Brownfield. They spoke briefly. All three came back into the courtroom. Mr. Brownfield spoke with Wilson.

As Mr. Brownfield walked out of the courtroom, he indicated to another public defender that he had spoken with Wilson's family "multiple times." The family members spoke with Mr. Brownfield privately. Mr. Brownfield came back, spoke to Wilson, took the plea form back.

All this time, Wilson was not communicating or acknowledging the family members.

Mr. Brownfield told Visiting Judge Joseph Hurley, " I had anticipated a resolution, however in the process of filling the plea form, I have doubts regarding Mr. Wilson's competency to stand trial."

Wilson was arrested in 2016 for allegedly assaulting a 12 year old on her way to school in Arcata.

Wilson has already been to Napa State, had competency restored. Criminal proceedings are suspended, again.

Dr. Ramirez will evaluate Wilson. Status of that report is scheduled for April 26 at 10:15 a.m.

Wilson is charged with two felonies. Count 1 Forcible Lewd  Act Upon a Child and Count 2 Assault with intent to commit a felony on a victim under 18; " intent to commit rape, sodomy and oral copulation" is alleged in the complaint.
