David Marcus' lawsuit scheduled to be heard on November 13 might get dragged out longer if County Counsel has their way

Attorney Patrik Griego filed his motion for issuance of the writ against the county and it is scheduled to be heard on November 13th.

The county filed its opposition. I asked Mr. Griego about the County's response. Mr. Griego is filing his response to the County's opposition today.

In the meantine, Mr. Griego gave me  brief statement. Mr. Griego said that the County's response did not address the merits. Instead, the County is attempting to delay the hearing.

County Counsel has been taking the depositions of  several Public Defender Employees.

  1. The County's action reminds me of a cat in a litter box. No matter how much it tries to make it go away, it's still there, and the more it's disturbed, the more it smells.

SOMEONE needs to take a good look at the County Counsel. I've complained about him before. I've seen his CV and there is no reason he should have been hired for this post.
While in Reno he may have advertised an 'office', but it was within the offices of another Law Corporation. Impressive address....but then, one can get a 'good' address with a Beverly Hills zip code from a Mail Boxes type business. Physical location means nothing unless it's a stand-alone location with a sign on the door. Yes, local attorneys in Eureka share spaces but locals know that.

Blanck's chief claim to fame on his page was that he was elected to serve at the head of the NAACP in Reno.
I have commented elsewhere about his failure to bring his 'experience' to bear (not officially) in the Lawson case. Might he not have tried to reach out? I don't know if he is a member of the NAACP in Humboldt county.
While in Nevada, he represented plaintiffs in civil suits concerning racism. I believe he represented a school district or such but how does that compare with the demands of being a County Counsel.
According to Transparent California, his regular pay is $159,000+; Other pay $5,750, with total benefits of $40,558 for a total for 2016 of $205,385.
So what are you getting for your tax dollars, Humboldt besides a lot of bad advice?
WHO decided he was a good choice for the office?

I wonder what he would have said....

I've been reading the deposition taken from Marcus (with Chris Cella representing him)...I'll send you a copy of the pdf. left me with some weird questions...about why there are no records...
