Bullock was found guilty on all counts for the murder of Fr. Eric Freed by a jury on April 11 016. He was sentenced on May 11, 2016.

Who asks for an appeal? It is just an automatic thing an attorney does just for the sake of it? Or does the defendant ask for an appeal? Is he appealing for a reduced sentence or does the defendant want a new trail? Appealing for an oral argument? What does that mean? I don't know how the courts work.
