Yes, it is true. The Humboldt County General Plan has passed!

Yes, it is true!

Fifth District Supervisor Ryan Sundberg told me, "It has been a long process, but in the end we have a Planning document that I believe has a great balance between future growth, jobs, and the environment. I am very happy to see it completed!"

A hearing was held today for the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors to certify the final EIR and adoption to the GPU.

Second District Supervisor Estelle Fennell was not present today. Third District Supervisor Mike Wilson dissented.

  1. Thankyou. I read the information on the first link you provided. According to the plan, the population
in Humboldt will decrease by 2040. How is that possible since the population has increased since the
county was founded in 1853. That seems kind of backwards to me, what are your thoughts on
a projected decrease in population for Humboldt?

    1. Pot becomes legal, price drops to a few dollars per pound, mass exodus to find jobs.
Just like the Tobacco Farmer's did when the price hit $ 1.98 per lb. There is no industry here except dope. Projected decrease in population for Humboldt? Probably the only thing they got right.

  2. Check back in 5 years when former weed land prices drop like bricks because they sell out or default on loans (that may or may not have been intended to pay off in the first place). It will be a good time for folks that wanted a little patch of paradise for themselves to be able to afford such again. Seriously, 10 acres of unstable, rather useless, rocky hilly land in the middle of nowhere should never go for a million bucks. ~TMOB
