Nick Johnson sentenced for two cases; here is the breakdown on his plea and prison time

Nickolas Johnson was sentenced for two cases this morning. One for the murder of David Ganfield. The other for his attempted murder and firing upon two District Attorney Investigators.
Judge John Feeney sentenced Johnson to
16 to life on the murder case. In the other case he was sentenced to 7 years for the attempted murder. The allegation of discharge of a firearm carries a 20 year sentence. So his total sentence is 27 years to life.

DA Maggie Fleming appeared in court for Johnson's sentencing. Deputy DA Roger Rees prosecuted the Ganfield case. Mr. Neal Sanders, who was court appointed, represented Johnson.

  1. I believe that when one is sentenced to an indeterminate term and a determinate term, the determinate term (in this case 27 years) is served first, and the indeterminate term (16 to life)is served consecutively, so it's really more like 43 to life. Although with Prop. 57 he can earn credits toward an earlier parole date.

  2. But his mom says he's still just a kid....he's only 25 yrs old. She also said he's a good dad!! And she states if he really wanted to kill the officers he would have because he's a good shot. Man, if she was actually trying to help him she might as well have kept her mouth shut. If I were the judge listening to her BS, her hog wash would have only irritated me more. Glad the judge got this POS off our streets. One down hundreds more to go.....Cuff 'em and Stuff 'em!!!
