Defense for James Merrick charged with the death of teen pedestrian to file motion for continuance

James Merrick had trial confirmation scheduled today. Jury trial is scheduled for November 20. The defense will be filing a motion to continue because their expert Rudy Degger will not be able to provide the accident construction report in time.  People objected to the continuance.

Also, Deputy Conflict Counsel Meagan O'Connell is taking over the case from Deputy Conflict Counsel Marek Reavis.

Merrick is charged with the murder of a teen pedestrian in Mckinleyville, two DUI charges and a charge of hit and run.

Deputy District Attorney Chris Yi is prosecuting the case. Deputy Conflict Counsel is representing Merrick.

Further trial confirmation on October 26 at 8:30 a.m. Trial assignment November 17.

  1. Rudy is the stooge and cause for the delay? How long has this "creditable person" had to create the accident scene? Way too long. Merrick was drunk and ran over the girl-that's it folks!!! STOP THE STALL!!!!!!!!!
