Fifth District Supervisor Ryan Sundberg, Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal and Humboldt County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services have organized two meetings on clean air centers this week.
Tomorrow, September 5, from 9:30-10:30, several County departments and representatives will meet in the courthouse basement for a meeting. This meeting is scheduled at the direction of Sheriff Honsal, to discuss opening a day clean air center at the library in Eureka. This is not a public meeting. (3:35 p.m. Update: the meeting has been cancelled)
The second meeting is a discussion of air quality issues from wildfire smoke, impacting Orleans, Weitchpec, Hoopa, and Willow Creek. Thursday, September 7 at 1pm, Hoopa EOC.
Tentative agenda (suugestions can be sent until Wednesday, September 6 at noon):
- Current and projected smoke conditions
- Health impacts
- Clean Air Centers
- Status of resource requests
- Mutual aid among impacted communities
