If you want to help Betty Chinn with a grant opportunity for the Village Center, here's how

"Please help in spreading the word about a grant opportunity for Betty Chin. The Knights of Columbus have nominated her for a $50,000 Grant to help her continue with the development and running of the Village Center.  There is a voting factor in awarding the grant.  From now until December 5, you can vote once a day from more than one device (i.e. computer, phone, I-pad).

Everyone you know (or don't know) can vote...you do not need to be a Knight of Columbus.  Get everyone in Eureka and beyond (wife and family, extended family, friends, Facebook friends, Betty's friends, etc...) to start voting.

Go to...www.eaglerarelife.com   Click on view stories, find Betty’s picture, then click on it to vote.  You can vote every 24 hours.

97 people have been nominated, and only 30 nominees with the highest vote count will be judged by the committee.  The top 30 public vote recipients will be judged by the committee, who will narrow the candidates down to 10.  They will be using the following criteria:

Relevance to the Promotion Theme (“lead a rare life”) - 50%
Originality and Creativity - 20%
Story Quality and Clarity - 10%
Online voting by website visitors - 20%"

  3. Vote for Betty but scroll through the other candidates and read the one about “Miracle Messages”. Perhaps that could be part of the program she provides, or can be taken on by one of the other agencies involved. It is a one on one contact with homeless, where they are given the opportunity to send a video message to their family. They have a 90% reunification rate and are getting people off the streets and back with the people who care about them. It’s working in SanFrancisco. Scroll through the other grant applicants and read about it.

  4. MS is more important to me than enabling our ever growing population of homeless. Betty is a beautiful person, but her cause has created a cancer in this city...

  6. I love animals also but can anyone really compare them to people ?
Betty Chin is saving lives and helping the homeless get back on their feet. She has helped dozens recover and is helping a few dozen more families go from the bushes to her shelters.
