Trash, needles, plastic; where are Humboldt Baykeeper, EPIC and other environmental organizations?

"I just went down to the area between 5th and 6th st. between T st and West Ave. One camp alone has over hundred exposed needles."

  1. Uh, they were probably cleaning up area beaches as today is Coastal Cleanup Day.

    1. Bones, the question is not about today, it was question about their silence, inaction and hypocrisy in general.

  2. I don't get the "inaction and hypocrasy" bit, as their focus is on other aspect of our environment. I don't expect to see New Directions, for instance, our doing salmon counts.

But what I was thinking was, some cities have departments and staff that ONLY clean city streets, both with paid staff and volunteers. Wouldn't it be useful to have a squad dedicated to cleaning up these messes? It would sure help, as well as provide employment.

    1. Bones, the comparison to New,Directions does not apply. Baykeeper and EPIC sue selectively, they are environmental groups. They don't get to pick and chose what they protest or advocate for. Maybe if they were not suing and killing business and not staying silent about causes dear to you like addiction enablers, we would have revenue to have staff. The money from suing and donations goes to the salary of their staff. HACHR gets funding. Time for them to give back to the community. Needle exchange locally does not work because those who litter don't give a damn about anyone; they just care about getting their next fix.

  3. Take away mandatory attorney fees juiced by lodestar and see what a difference there would be in volume of lawsuits.

  4. I would think that the ruling for the County against the City of San Diego would set precedent for a suit.

    1. I am blessed. But, I don't have to thank my stars. It is a choice to do drugs. It is a choice that some in this community excuse and enable the drug culture.

  6. Epics and Baykeepers are ludicrous parasites who perch like vultures waiting for political and environmental "roadkills" to occur. This community reeks of their political stench and their better than tho attitude. What "me get my hands dirty"? when I can sue your ass and have green money to flaunt our image and green restictionist agenda. Get rid of the junkies by not providing any socialist services and the FREE everything under the guise of a humanitarian salvation.

  7. The city could put lights up and cut the cut back the brush in that green belt so they couldn't hide and would be more visible to the police,
wouldn't cost much. Maybe that would help.

  8. Years ago when a Sheriff asked the EPA why they don't care about the horrendous environmental damage being done in the Public Lands by illegal growers, the EPA replied back "We only go after businesses".

Until all the business owners speak up on behalf of their part ownership of the Public Land that the junkies trash, nothing will be done. Woe to the business owners for allowing the junkie trash on their potion of ownership though.
