Uber launches safety feature for women riders, some men make it a trans issue, others want male driver option while ignoring the flaw that women can be sexual predators too; Uber should have offered this earlier and it could have prevented the recent alleged sexual assault in Texas by Lebanese Uber driver Sahmeh Chami

For the first time in the US, Uber is launching Women Preferences which allows women riders to request women drivers. This was announced on July 23 with Uber saying pilot programs will begin in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Detroit. Some Male users on X reacted with making jokes about the trans community and others whining why men were not able to pick male drivers.

I get what Uber is trying but women can be sexual predators too. Uber also waited to launch this in the U.S. after other countries?

Had Uber offered this option to begin with, incidents like the arrest of Lebanese Uber driver, 49 year old Sameh Mohamad Chami, on August 6 in Texas for the alleged sexual assault of a 21 year old woman. ICE now has an arrest detainer for Chami.
