I did this post on Saturday, August 16.

This morning Humboldt County District Attorney Stacey Eads spoke at the Board of Supervisors meeting.
Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer was also at the meeting.
These my notes from memory from today's meeting while Ms. Eads was speaking. When the video is available, you should watch DA Eads' remarks.
"Prosecutors are unique types of attorneys, they are different from defense attorneys," said Ms. Eads. Prosecutors are "seeking justice."
DA Stacey Eads gave stats about law enforcement referrals compared to which cases make it to court. 6,000 plus referrals which end in 3,000 plus cases filed in court.
Ms. Eads said, "only 70% of defendants are represented by public defenders; rest by private attorneys."
Ms. Eads said deallocating three Deputy DA positions is "dangerous". Her recomendation to the Board of Supervisors was to "freeze two Deputy DA positions" and have the public defender make the sacrifice for one position.
I had no idea what Ms. Eads was going to say when I expressed my concerns on Saturday.
Told ya.
11 years of covering Humboldt Superior Court, my observations and opinions are backed up by facts and stats.
