48 year old Salisha Danale Dean was arrested yesterday by Eureka Police Department for PC 422 criminal threats and PC 417 (a) (1) brandishing a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
A google search also shows a 48 year old Salisha Dean with Hoopa and Salem, Oregon addresses and an apellate case from Oregon. I verified with EPD that the Oregon address is correct so I am adding that relevant information.
The jail log provides minimal information unless a defendant is released. EPD at this stage cannot release much and until charges are filed or a preliminary hearing, I don't know and may not if this Salisha Dean is related to the Richard Dean I previously covered.
Background on Dean's case:
Richard Dean has an aunt, Salisha Dean. I do not know the middle name.
Convicted murderer Richard Dean was sentenced on April 30, 2020 to a prison term of 15 years to life. On March 16, Dean pleaded guilty to second degree murder of Anthony Pennucci. Dean is ineligible for probation. He will be on parole for life.
I did a very lengthy post and covered Richard Dean's case extensively. You can access those posts via the search feature on the blog.
In italics is just some of text from my April 30, 2020 post.
At sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads said, Dean's mental health issues, the PC 1368 and 1026 proceedings and the fact that he is schizophrenic were taken into consideration while reaching an agreement. Two out of three doctors who evaluated Dean said that "Mr. Dean was capable and knew the nature of his act."
These cases are always difficult," said Judge Wilson. "On one side, the victim's family is upset that parole is a possibility. On the other hand, we have Mr. Dean's family who know him from a different perspective."
Judge Christopher Wilson said "the record reflects restraining orders" that indicate Dean's behavior before Pennucci's murder.
"I don't have doubt that Mr. Dean committed the crime," said Judge Wilson. "I feel a jury would feel the same way."
The fact that he was 18 when he committed the crime and his mental illness was taken into consideration by Judge Wilson.
There were two letters, from Dean's grandmother and grandfather, that were given to the Court to read today. Other family members spoke on behalf of Dean at the last hearing.
