Natasha Deanne Bussell was arrested by HCSO yesterday for PC 206 torture , PC 243(d) aggravated battery , PC 236 false imprisonment, PC 148 (a) 1 resisting arrest and PC 591.5 damaging a communication device to prevent someone from calling 911 or for help. Bail is $750,000.
I contacted HCSO Lt. Jesse Taylor and confirmed the location of arrest is Willow Creek. Anyone can google Bussell and see previous Humboldt coverage on family members and Bussell; whether any of that is connected to this arrest, stay tuned.
These are cases Bussell already has in the Humboldt Superior Court system.
8/5/25: DA filed complaint today. Bussell is charged with 4 felonies. Count 1 PC 245 (a) (1) assault with a deadly weapon; Count 2 PC 422 criminal threats; Count 3 PC 243 (d) aggravated battery and Count 4 PC 236 false imprisonment.
Bussell is also known Natasha Deanne Oceguera. She has a Hoopa address in court. Bussell was arraigned this afternoon. Conflict Counsel appointed by Visiting Judge Ksenia Tsenin. Bail is $35,000. OR bail on 8/7; Preliminary hearing on 8/15.
2025 case charges:
8/7/25: Supervised release granted by Visiting Judge Ksenia Tsenin. Deputy DA Whitney Timm
appeared on the case for the People. Deputy Conflict Counsel David Nims for Bussell.
Bonnie Sherman with United Indian Health Services addressed the Court regarding services available to Bussell. Criminal protective order filed and served. Supervised release terms include participating and successfully and completing appropriate treatment program. Bussell ordered to contact UIHS and participate in Bear River Sober Living. Preliminary hearing scheduled for 9/24.
9/24/25: Preliminary hearing continued to 11/5.
11/5/25: Failed to appear bench warrant issued by Judge Steven Steward for $65,000, held until 11/6.
11/6/25: Failed to appear, bench warrant held until 11/14 for setting of preliminary hearing. Court minutes do not indicate why but it is rare that a bench warrant is held twice with charges of assault, criminal threats, battery and false imprisonment.
11/14/25: Bench warrant recalled; defense states potential filing for mental health diversion. Preliminary hearing scheduled for 1/16/26.
