Matthew Craig Browning was arrested today by Eureka Police Department at 1:01 a.m for PC 243 (e) (1) domestic battery, two counts of PC 1192.7(c)(23) serious felony in which the defendant personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, five counts of PC 273.6(a) violating a restraining order, three counts of PC 273.5(f)(1) domestic violence with a prior conviction, two counts PC 245(a)(1) assault with a deadly weapon and PC 1203.2(a)(2) probation violation. Browning was booked on a no bail status.

I have also emailed EPD Chief Brian Stephens, Commander Leonard LaFrance and EPD PIO Laura Montagna asking if EPD can issue a press release about this arrest.

All you have to do is google his name to see how many times he got arrested this year. And I will bet previously released from jail by  judge on supervised release.

When I checked court cases, Browning was granted supervised release by Judge Kaleb Cockrum. He has two cases; one open and one closed. He was represented in both by the Public Defender's office. On 8/21, there is an arraignment scheduled for his violation of probation.

8/21/25:  Browning arraigned.  CR2501321 + CR2501703 + CR2501071 VOP. OR bail on 8/25.

8/25/25: This time, OR and supervised release denied by Judge Cockrum. Preliminary hearing 8/29.

8/29/25: Defense requests continuance to 9/4 for setting of preliminary hearing/change of plea.

9/4/25: In CR2501321, he entered a plea, Sentencing is on 9/23.

9/23/25: Sentenced in CR2501321 and VOP CR2501071. People dismissed CR2501703.

9/30/25: Just a week after he was sentenced, Browning was arrested for EPD for PC 273.6(a) violating a restraining order and PC 602(o) trespassing.
