This cartoon court docket is more efficient than the "As The Humboldt Superior Court Turns"; while Humboldt Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees apologized today for the delay in getting discovery to defense in the Daryl Jones' case, it is Gavin Newsom, Jerry Brown, the useless bureaucratic CA Judicial Council and local court admin and local rules that have failed the public for decades

 

The latest episode of "As Humboldt Superior Court Turns" and my latest post on  "how to win friends and influence people in Humboldt."  

The influence people part does happen and I am not giving examples of results and effectiveness; again. I don't need to; those who will take umbrage know it is true. Who are they? Just look at the glares and the anon gossip and smears behind my back and online.

If you didn't get the sarcasm of "how to win friends", just look for the glares, especially at the courthouse, and anon gossip behind my back and online. 

I do have friends and supporters here but after they have been harassed by the local cabal and Humboldt mean girls and guys , who they are is none of your business.

For those community members grumbling yesterday in the audience because of the delays in the Daryl Jones' case; you have tunnel vision.  Get out of your self absorbed world. 

You experienced for a couple of hours what others live with daily on the second floor of the courthouse. Here's a 🎻 for your minor "inconvenience." 

If the public is unhappy with the court backlog and delays, vote for someone else than Gavin Newsom who is too busy auditioning for his presidential campaign and the failed career politicians who have made California a bureaucratic nightmare and the land of lawlessness and coddling criminals and entrenched systems with no accountability.

While Humboldt Deputy District Attorney apologized today for the delay in getting discovery to defense in the Daryl Jones' case, it is Gavin Newsom, Jerry Brown, the useless bureaucratic CA Judicial Council and local court admin and local rules that have failed the public for decades.

Inmates yelling at judges, court bailiffs having to deal with impossible work environments, attorneys barely getting through calendars and discovery, courthouse security being screamed at because some spoiled local is having having a bad day and has never been held accountable and decides to lash out with misdirected anger.

What judges, attorneys, law enforcement and court staff, victims and even some defendants go through on the second floor is not something anyone can understand unless it has impacted them. Jurors do because those issues affect them. I do because I lived it for 11 plus years. I don't get the paycheck or resources or advantages but I have to deal with all the nonsense and stress as well as constant targeting and retaliation for doing a thankless job reporting what is ignored and for speaking up for many of you.

Former California Governor Jerry Brown's administration's lack of vetting when making judicial appointments is being exposed with current CA Commission on Judicial Performance decisions and investigations. We haven't seen the impact of Newsom appointments; yet.

Not listening to feedback is typical arrogance by politicians. AB 109, Prop 47 and other soft on crime legislation by Democrats is a disaster. Humboldt "local rules" are such a power trip and it is an observation made by attorneys who practice in other counties with more cases and courthouses.

Calendars and constant backlog in Humboldt courts is not a judges issue; we currently have a great bench and they are overworked. So are the attorneys, prosecutors, public defenders and court staff. 

Humboldt Superior Court Assistant Manager Scott Anderson has made some positive changes and he supports his staff. As far as the rest of court administration, why have you ignored attorney requests and even my recent suggestion to bring back interventions? Judges and attorneys used to meet with court administration? Are those meetings still happening?

The way Humboldt Superior admin schedules dates causes jam packed calendars with intense, drama filled lengthy cases. I can predict future dates because the pattern has not changed for over a decade. There was a system that worked when Retired Judge John Feeney, Retired Judge Marilyn Miles, Retired Judge Dale Reinholtsen were the current bench.

Daryl Jones, Aunna Bollman, Danielle Durand and Deunn Willis are just three cases that should not have been scheduled this week. These blunders cause jams and cases keep being pushed back.

These  are just three cases I am covering that should not have been scheduled in the same week and there are always 20 plus other cases to check daily. Judges, attorneys and court staff, court bailiffs are dealing with a heavier workload.

Humboldt Superior Court has all these new manager positions. What do they do? This chaos is mismanagement that has existed since former CEO Kerri Keenan days, since former CEO Kim Bartleson days. They both resigned and are gone but the problems remains. There has been an exodus of staff and management needs to take responsibility for their part instead of deflecting it all on other reasons. Experienced and efficient court clerk Taylor is leaving. Another criminal clerk Amber is leaving.

There have been court cases involving former employees; Socorro Maria Cervantes and Joe Hale. The Commission on Judicial Performance should never have had to get involved into investigating former judge Gregory Kreis if Humboldt court administration and the do nothing CA Judicial Council watched out for the public.

There would be no scrutiny or information to the public if it was not for my reporting. 

This is a management issue and the useless CA Judicial Council will not step in to do any oversight or fix issues but just sit back and issue press releases. Just like their boss Gavin. 

I have written so many posts on why the Humboldt Superior Court is dysfunctional and nothing will change until Gavin Newsom starts fixing the mistakes he has made and those made by former Governor Jerry Brown and the incompetent, anti law and order California Democrats. Gavin wants votes? He can start by fixing the arrogant, dysfunctional California court system and admit his failure  of closing down prisons. Instead he has created a failed bureaucracy of diversion and other failed policies and programs that do not work and have created repeat offenders who know there will be no consequences. 

Of all those posts, the one that I got most feedback on was this July 21, 2025 post. I wrote as a"Truth Social" parody and anyone who works at the Courthouse or is impacted by the delays and chaos appreciated. Liberals and Democrats with a sense of humor privately gave me kudos.

What is going on with you "boys" and in some cases, "gals?" Those of you at the too clean Humboldt Hilton with three hots and a cot you losers don't deserve. You are really putting a damper on the Humboldt fog. Law enforcement, attorneys, correctional deputies, court staff and law abiding public and I are on one team. Make Eureka Safe Again. Crescent City, San Francisco, Oregon are really not sending us their best. It is summertime.  We are tired of seeing your mugshot, fed up of seeing you out on the street, not interested in your sob story for the 10th time about how you will change. Put on some "big boy" and "big girl" pants, enough of this arson, robbery, vandalism DEI.  We need a break from your crime. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
