Convicted felon Devon Demontigny was in court with her husband on 12/2. They certainly belong together. I should have known they were trouble from the moment they yakked and disturbed others outside the courtroom and continued that behavior in the courtroom. The bailiff in court that day looked exhausted and was not her usual self. The self absorbed Demontignys took full advantage to act out, oblivious to the fact that court was in session and disrespected everyone else. Devon was under the impression she was in an episode of The Real Wives of Humboldt County instead of a courtroom.
I did not even know Ms. Andrea Sullivan represented her until Devon's belligerent husband came up beside her at the mic when her case was called and asked Retired Judge Ksenia Tsenin if he could speak.
Both Devon and her husband lied to Judge Tsenin on 12/2 that Ms. Sullivan had not appeared and they had been in court 6 times. Ms. Sullivan was appointed on 9/26/24 when the Public Defender was relieved due to conflict. Devon failed to appear on 10/15/24. It was not until 11/12/24 that Devon was in court and the first hearing Ms. Sullivan got to see herclient since she was appointed. Then Devon was granted supervised release by Retired Judge John Feeney on 11/14. The next hearing was 12/2. Court records support what Ms. Sullivan told Judge Tsenin which was that she hasn't haf a chance to meet with Devon since her client was placed on supervised release. Judge Tsenin checked court records and the Demontignys were caught in a lie.
Devon had 4 cases on calendar on 12/2, CR2400237, CR2302029, CR2402693B, CR1903385.
Devon requested a Marsden hearing which took place on 12/3. It was denied by Judge Steven Steward. Devon was ordered by Judge Steward to provide her contact information to Ms. Sullivan. An attorney needs to know where the client is to communicate with them. Devon and her sidekick failed to mention that to Judge Tsenin. Devon does not deserve a plea or an attorney like Ms. Sullivan.
Ms. Sullivan was appointed. That happens when there is a conflict of some sort and usually if public defenders cannot represent a defendant. An appointment means taxpayers are paying Devon's legal expenses. Demontignys said they would hire a private attorney. If they have money, then why did Devon have a public defender and a private attorney court appointed? Not everyone gets a public defender. Maybe a review of Demontignys finances should be done. Devon's stunt prompted Maria Cuevas to also ask for a Marsden hearing. The domino effect of one defendant requesting something and others following. That Marsden was also denied. More waste of time and court resources from Devon and Maria who need to look in the mirror and take responsibility.
While the search shows 32 results for Devon, there are some duplicate listings which leave about 20 cases which are mostly criminal, with one family law case and one unlawful detainer. I have included records of her failure to appear in one of her current cases and another case with a probation violation and a conviction. Devon has several aliases. I have included the first page of the complaint in CR2400237 which lists her various names.
