"Newsworthy", ignore "Critical-Donkey" who is typical of the negative voices that plague Humboldt Reddit. You are not the first person where some Reddit commenter has lashed out, reacted out of proportion and misread what was written. While I disagree with the tone of the response by "Critical"; I also have concerns and questions as most people who read your post. Just like the CalPoly "whistleblower" post on Reddit, if appropriate action and safety is your concern; then this is not the way to achieve your objective.
"shroomigator" raises questions that I also have and your engaging on Reddit and deflecting every helpful suggestion is a red flag for me.
Humboldt Reddit is the same as Humboldt Nextdoor or any anonymous local online section filled with a small cliquey group who only want to post and read what they have to say. Law enforcement, investigators also have access to social media just like you, me or anyone else.
You going online on an anonymous forum making claims with zero evidence instead of contacting a lawyer or some organization that could properly guide you is a valid concern. If you had contacted a lawyer and one that is professional and good at their job; I doubt you would be posting online. Humboldt Reddit is the last place you should be posting if you are serious. From what you have posted; you don't have evidence. I don't expect you to post it online but you are setting off too many red flags.
I don't know who you are. You could be someone who has contacted me. The post sets off so many red flags and very similar behavior from a particular person. If you had sent what you wrote in this post to me; I would not respond unless you had evidence that could be verified or a lawyer or a lawsuit you had filed. My suspicions were confirmed about who this person is through an email I received later this evening after this post.
With any tip, I have criteria. I ask for evidence. With certain emails, the first thing I ask is if the person contacted law enforcement or a lawyer.
I understand the concerns many of the commenters on Reddit about your post. CWS and HCSO and the entire Humboldt inbred and interdependent system have issues and getting justice is like banging your head against a wall
but anyone can make claims anonymously online. Individuals with HCSO and CWS are not all the same. Who you deal with matters. HCSO and law enforcement have successfully investigated many cases involving women and children victims. CWS has major problems with follow up and taking reports seriously. I know that from personal experience. The County is aware. Google Humboldt CWS,Grand Jury and DOJ.
If there are alleged victims in Eureka, why have you not gone to EPD? That is one agency if you criticize, your credibility is zilch to me. I have covered so many cases and EPD is the best local law enforcement agency. It isn't perfect but no agency or person meets that standard.
There are others who have filed lawsuits and I have covered those on my blog.
I have dedicated years taking on the local system and covering news no one else does; especially when it comes to cases involving the protection and welfare of children and women but the way you are approaching this and your responses on Reddit raise too many concerns, questions and red flags for me. I doubt any ethical journalist or lawyer would take you seriously. Maybe HCSO and CWS are having the same problem.
If you contacted a lawyer, if you filed a lawsuit, if you had evidence, if your claims were properly and legally vetted; then one could evaluate whether this is "newsworthy."
It is not the job of the media to be everyone's savior, solve every problem or fight every battle. There are different ways, organizations and systems to handle different situations. Just because you feel a certain way is not "news." Media can inform and make people aware. It cannot fix entrenched local systems; especially when most of the other media stays silent.
