I have been regularly covering child abduction suspect Peter Thompson's case. Usually, I add minor updates and continuances to the previous post but there was a hearing last week on 12/5/24 and there is one scheduled this morning where who knows what will happen because defense seems to be making a lot of requests which make me think these tactics are to get the DA to agree to a plea.
On 12/5, there was a readiness conference scheduled, Deputy Public Defender David Celli requested that it be continued to 12/11, asked for an intervention and said he would be filing a motion to continue the jury trial currently scheduled on 12/16. He did and that motion will be heard on 12/11.
Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor for this case. Time estimate is 2 weeks. Whatever happens tomorrow, continuance or a plea or some other development, I will add to this post. I am not doing a new post for every little delay and a motion that defense could have filed and addressed on 12/5 instead of dragging it out over two hearings.
