The last post I did on The Critics, a local band from Fortuna, was in May about the premiere of their latest music video. I have been reporting on the band since 2022.
Recently, I heard some news about their plans and reached out to The Critics Band Manager, Regina Fuller.
"Hi John – You heard correctly. The Critics are heading to White Whale Recording Studio in Santa Rosa, CA in January to record a 4-song demo album. They intend to submit it to music producers and labels. This is a tough industry to break into and they know it’s a long shot, but worth trying. Over the summer they did a small tour and played the Golden Gate Park Bandshell in San Francisco, Winters Tavern in Pacifica, and The Great Room in Fresno. That tour was a success, so they are focusing on touring in 2025 in addition to recording a new album. "Another fun news update is that their music video “Heart of Gold” with Director Griffin Loch has won a couple music video awards," said Fuller.
The video was selected as a Finalist for “Best Low Budget” with the Music Video Awards https://www.mvawards.com/summer24
