Unlike mainstream Californiamedia, even if I had not done this post, my readers could research or google this information and do a better job of informing the public about the lawsuit filed by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Maryanne Gilliard.

I don't expect much from CALMatters or the other publications such as the Orange County Register or U.S. News World and Report but the Daily Journal that is supposed to be this big to do in the legal community could do better than sloppy, lazy so called "reporting."

These media outlets made a big deal about a new lawsuit alleging the State of California is miscalculating wages for judges. Every article I looked at did not even bother to include the actual complaint or any relevant pages.

All these "mainstream media" just lumped California judges in one category. The Daily Journal did not lump all judges together but their "reporting" on this lawsuit is lackadaisical.

These "reporters" do know how to use Google AI? Obviously, it was too much work for them to do some research or make calls or email agencies and PIOS for information.

They talked about salaries but did not include benefits.

I know from covering Humboldt Superior Court that with benefits and salary, at least one person made more than $245,000. Maybe Sacramento Superior Court does not pay Judge Gilliard enough? Unfortunately Transparent California and Open Payrolls do not have current information on salaries.

If these outlets actually read any of the press releases issued by California Governor Gavin Newsom's office they would see salaries vary.

Mainstream media is lazy because they get funding and advertisers despite laziness and because those with money want their control and status quo to remain. Actual journalism and independent reporting benefits the people.
