Locally owned, this eatery has increased their menu and customer base in two months by good food, excellent customer service and adding options based on feedback from their regulars

Last November and December, I wrote about Aroma's Cafe located on 1651 Myrtle Avenue. I spoke with co-owners Marisol who is from Mckinleyville and Adela who is from Hydesville. Marisol has been in the area for 20 years, has experience in the coffee and restaurant business and runs front of house while Adela does all the cooking. They prepare the food as you order and even the grab and go items are made on the premise and have an authentic homemade taste.

They have added more options since they did their soft opening in December such as spicy soft potato tacos and a peanut butter, banana and honey bagel. If you have a more traditional palate, minestrone or other freshly made soup, a Cobb or Caprese salad, BLT or biscuits and gravy are among the staples. They have more than one vegetarian option with bagels, crepes and entrees. Responding to requests from customers, they have applied for a beer and wine license.

Coffee from Humboldt Bay, grab and go items include fresh tarts, cookies, salads, soup, sandwiches, crepes with savory options such as chorizo and potatoes and homemade items such as tamales, burritos and chilaquiles with several items priced from $4 or 5, $10 and a few $15. Aroma's is open from 7 to 3 Monday through Saturday and 7:30 to 3 on Sundays.

The business is locally owned, they have increased their customer base by word of mouth, good food and excellent customer service. They added more items after their soft opening which I think is a smart move for any new business, especially in food.
