Earlier today, I broke the news about a last minute spoiler, I mean candidate in the current Judge race between incumbent Gregory Kreis and challenger April Van Dyke. .Ms. Watson who will be a write in candidate if she qualifies. It is a pretty bad sign when local established attorneys ask me, "Who is she?" "Never heard of her."
I have watched Ms. Watson in court for 10 years and not impressed with her as a prosecutor. In many of her cases, she was co-counsel with Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees. So if you use google, the Sotolongo case and others will come up because they are high profile cases and the DA's office does not send out press releases on cases they lose.
One of these cases in the post about losses had Mr. Rees and Ms. Watson as attorneys. Only I covered this news.

This is the prosecutor who was second chair just for optics by the Humboldt County District Attorney in 2017 in the David Josiah Lawson case. The lead prosecutor in that case was Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees. He was front and center. If you attended those very emotionally charged hearings in court; you have your own memories.
Lately, Watson's name was mentioned in online comments as a third option. Rees and Watson have prosecuted many cases together. The David Josiah Lawson case, the Brandon Brocious case, the Logan Brewer-Hearst case. Ask the victims and their loved ones how they feel about Ms. Watson.

Without Mr. Rees, how would Ms. Watson have fared in any of these cases where he was lead prosecutor? The successful convictions belong to him because there are cases such as the Sotolongo case, in addition to those already mentioned, where he was the sole prosecutor in many of those hearings.
This is an obvious attempt by Gallegos, a Kreis endorser and Kreis enablers to make sure that they retain control of that position, given that Kreis is sinking faster than the Titanic. This isn't just my opinion. I have received texts with this sentiment and sone are from people at 825 Fifth street aka the Courthouse.
Why didn't Watson chose to run before? She steps in three weeks before the election? The sharks are circling. Will more people throw in their names last minute to desperately help Kreis or for their own selfish interests because they didn't have the guts just a couple of months ago?
