Eric, first thanks for the credit. To address some of the points you raise in your post about the CJP proceedings which are an important debate to have. You and I can disagree but each voter will see it differently and people in the Humboldt Superior Court bubble think differently. That is a good thing because this race and all other local races should not be decided by a bunch of insiders or the good ole boys and gals with money.
You and I both know very few voters read all the resources out there or listen to forums or read the Voters Guide in detail but regular and serious voters do pay attention to all or some of those sources of information. Those voters do read as much as they can but ultimately their decisions come down down to who they trust and their own experiences with candidates or what other people they trust think about those candidates. In the last two days,I have heard from several voters that they have and will be reading the entire CJP complaint for themselves. People on polls, phone calls or even door to door don't always say the truth about who they are voting for. With everything people are going through these days, it takes a lot of motivation to mail in that ballot or show up on election day.
People already had an opinion about Gregory Kreis and whether they would vote for him or not. The CJP report just solidified and gave evidence to the stench that has permeated around Humboldt Superior Court Napolean for years.
Can you really be unbiased when you and your firm have to appear before Humboldt Judges, the current presiding scandal ridden "Judge" Kreis who has the ultimate say over other Humboldt judges and the court administration. Your livelihood depends on Kreis' favor or disfavor. As does that of many of his endorsers.
I disagree with you about what you said about the timing of the CJP report. I wish it had come out earlier before Kreis decided to be arrogant enough to seek another term. As reader texted me and asked Kreis was never elected the first time; he was appointed, so how you do you run for re-election?
The CJP did a thorough investigation and for you to be dismissive and claim 2017 allegations are old shows cluelesness on your part. Every count is relevant to a pattern of arrogance, abuse of power and paints the true picture of a tyrant who had plenty of opportunities to change, address his behavior before this report. He did not. His lies about his recusal and conflicts of interest have been exposed. You Eric are an attorney. You have no authority into holding any judge accountable. The CJP investigates, censures, disciplines and removes judges.
To question the CJP timing after 19 counts and 34 pages, the Joe Hale scandal that Kreis and his boo Ellis knew about well before his arrest, the short staffing and the chaos created by Kreis' management shows how clueless you are about the destruction Kreis has caused to people, women and children. He used his position to date women who work with him and are subordinate to him, including a relationship with family court self help attorney Tanya Ellis while both were married and she almost became the Commissioner. I posted on that potential appointment, conflict of interest and their relationship and asked Kreis to address the nature of their relationship more than once. He did not.
It is an insult to compare the CJP report to the timing of the grand jury report release on former auditor controller Karen Paz Dominguez. That was something Kreis did, which no other judge did prior to an election, and that action greatly benefitted Karen's detractors and his endorsers Rex Bohn and Billy Honsal who wanted Karen gone for selfish reasons. How far does this cozy chummy alliance of Bohn and Kreis go? If the other local media with ton of staff, money, time had the guts and their owners and publishers weren't good ole boys and gals, they would do an actual investigation. They won't. And if they do after this post, it will be a sloppy job, spinning it for those who need to be held accountable.
I think it is karma that what Kreis did to Karen happens to him. Kreis knew the CJP was investigating him. He wasn't blindsided. He knew this years prior to this election. He had plenty of opportunities to come out and address any of the allegations. He did not. He has been defiant and disparaged everyone from Rory Kalin to anyone who dared stand up to him. He has abused his authority to intimidate and silence people. And you think this isn't relevant to the voters before this POS may get another term to exact more revenge?
He was questioned at the KMUD forum. He blew it off except to say I have never been disciplined. None of us know what or if the CJP has communicated with Kreis and his attorney before the report was released. He could have avoided this investigation and report. Kreis was arrogant because he thought he could worm his way out of this just as he settled the Kalin case and fired a court clerk for telling the truth and made yet another long time staffer retire for similar reasons.
You have the nerve to talk about due process for a man who has denied it to others. Kreis is getting the due process every other judge does that the CJP investigates. Do you think he deserves special treatment. Do you know whether he impeded the CJP investigation and caused delays? You do not. No one does because the CJP does not comment on ongoing investigations and proceedings.
For you to sit there and whine about an anti-semite, misogynistic, atheist, womanizing, arrogant man who treats others like crap is pathetic Eric. Instead of pontificating on the Israel-Gaza conflict, why don't you address the anti-Semite in your backyard and the women and children being victimized by Humboldt Superior Court rulings.
The entire legal community, every pro per client and hundreds of people who had the misfortune of interacting with Kreis know him and what he did ; the CJP report isn't going to make a difference in how they already felt about him.
You are lucky Eric that you have not had your life destroyed by the likes of Kreis, his enablers and his endorsers Rex. Until you have suffered the trauma, the injustice and lost everything, stick to opining about fluff. The CJP did the right thing by the people of Humboldt which is more than I can say for most of the Humboldtians with power, money and all in charge at 825 Fifth street from the County to Dumboldt Superior Court.
These are just some of the comments on LOCO facebook page. Overwhelmingly against Kreis and some from people's cases I covered in court.
