Why is a media employee spreading rumors and is he shilling for the Kreis campaign?

When the good ole boys and gals in Humboldt are scared, when the lackeys who leech off them are petrified of losing their gravy train, they predictably attack, smear and lie and mostly anonymously.

Why is Asa Kavich spreading rumors and regurgitating talking points from Gregory Kreis and his campaign? Voters should follow the dollars and the ad money and any connection Asa has to Gregory Kreis, Jessica Watson or stakeholders in this race. Asa is despicable talking about Ms. April Van Dyke's looks. It is a personal matter for Ms. Van Dyke to share and I believe she intends to but Asa or anyone else does not get to dictate when, three weeks before an election.

Is Asa even correct about where he is employed? Does he have correct information on his Linkedin profile?Asa seems to have deleted or scrubbed his social media.

Asa links Lost Coast Crapost. Claims about Kalin's lawsuit and what was proven or not proven from a local rag that did not even cover the Kreis scandal or that lawsuit until recently with one perfunctory slopjob. Lost Coast Crapost publishing without checking what Kreis said at his campaign event and other claims have been addressed on this blog with court documents multiple times. I have posted all fppc forms filed and they are also on the election website. Some campaigns are more diligent than others on the paperwork.

I predicted the dirty tactics before the primary election and the good ole boys and gals and their handlers, enablers and those who profit from them did not disappoint. These distractions are meaningless and typical Humboldt drama.

The question is are these attacks from the Gregory Kreis campaign or the last minute spoiler Jessica Watson promoters? How many of these smears are from Kreis' good ole boy supporters and cronies such as Richard Dicky Salzman, Rex Bohn, the same anonymous law enforcement, DA insiders, Humboldt court insiders who have smeared, lied, attacked several people including me in previous elections.

Kreis and Watson have at least two names in common: Gallegos and Salzman. If you are tough on crime, then why would you support Kreis or Watson? Both have ties to Paul Gallegos who was the most soft on crime, incompetent DA. Gallegos' administration was a disaster for women and children, especially sexual assault and sexual abuse survivors.

Why is Watson not touting on her bare minimum website that she was a Gallegos hire? She has yet to qualify as a write in candidate so people thinking she is an alternative need to wait until Humboldt elections makes that decision.

These kind of dirty tactics is one reason it is important to have independent local media the good ole boys and gals do not control and cannot intimidate. It is also important that readers know when there is a conflict of interest and not selective disclaimers.

The comments below are from RHBB. Anonymous comments have become way to intimidate, silence, smear but in Humboldt it has been that way for decades and they are nasty and from cowards which includes insiders and the Humboldt connected. Anonymous comments are a convenient for certain media to deflect responsibility and keep their ads because there is no way to trace who is making those anonymous comments. The local good ole boys and gals like that they can bully without consequences which is why they will not fund and support independent reporting.

Try working while you are constantly attacked by haters who don't have the guts to use their names. I have dealt with this for years. Scared bullies who have no facts and weak bootlickers in Humboldt doing their bidding instead of standing up to the entrenched corruption. That is Humboldt in a nutshell.

One RHBB comment is very similar to what Asa insiniuates. Another commenter RHBB commenter asks who started this rumor.

Kym has always been fair so I don't know what is happening with her site lately. Ryan Hutson seems to be posting a lot lately.

I have been very positive in the past but there are some concerns that need to be addressed and they all have to do with Ryan's recent posts on RHBB.

After I repeatedly mentioned it, RHBB finally had a general disclaimer that Ryan Hutson works for a law firm. That disclaimer did not appear under this Jessica Watson article. I wrote about Jessica Watson being the write in candidate days ago before this RHBB article.

RHBB has never mentioned Ryan Hutson works for Eric Kirk's firm. Eric's firm also advertises on RHBB. Ryan interviewed Eric and what he had to say and that was a big chunk of the CJP proceding on RHBB which could have been done sooner. Eric and his partners appear before Humboldt Superior Court judges.

I broke the story on Kreis' CJP investigation in 2020 and again when the CJP issued the press release in February 2024. Kym used to be good about crediting me unlike the other petty local media. Ryan wrote the CJP article and the Watson article. She chose to leave out that I reported both these scoops and is now just like every other local media. But when she wants information about court, she emails me?

I never saw a disclaimer like the one below on RHBB from any press release from Gregory Kreis or Jessica Watson or for that matter any press release on RHBB. So why the need to single out Ms. Van Dyke's press release?

John, thanks for the reminder in the article this morning about the disclaimers we try to put on every post. We did not post them at all on the Watson story and not in full on the Kreis story. I've updated both posts to read as they should have from the first.

As to the disclaimer with Ms. Van Dyke's press release, normally we would have posted it under letters to the editor but that section is overflowing currently with the election so we added the extra disclaimer that we occasionally do when we post something we think is newsworthy but also opinion in our news section.

I do want to apologize for neither Ryan nor I seeing your Valentine's Day post about Watson. We both googled to see if we had missed other news sites breaking the news and didn't see anything there. And both of us went to your site which we thought would have been most likely to have broken the story and scrolled post by post through but, we started in the evening of February 15 after Watson announced on her page. If we had seen your article, we would have acknowledged that you broke it long before us. If anytime you feel like we should have acknowledged your work, feel free to reach out to me.
