Humboldt Superior Court candidate April Van Dyke just issued a statement responding to allegations against her opponent, incumbent Judge Gregory Kreis. I have been reporting on the CJP investigation, several of the incidents and allegations since I first broke the story in 2020 that Kreis was being investigated.
He has made local, regional, national and international news for the 19 counts in the notice of formal proceedings filed against him by the Commission on Judicial Performance. The screenshots above are just three of the several articles since the CJP issued the press release.
April Van Dyke Statement:
In light of news of the charges against my opponent, Judge Gregory Kreis, I want to address the importance of integrity, ethical conduct, and sound judgment in our judiciary.
The California Commission on Judicial Performance's charges against Judge Kreis are deeply concerning. As officers of the court, we hold a sacred duty to uphold the highest standards of integrity and fairness. The Commission on Judicial Performance is tasked with ensuring we do not fail in that duty, and they are careful not to bring formal charges unless they have compelling evidence.
I believe that the people of Humboldt County deserve a Superior Court Judge who demonstrates unwavering commitment to the principles of justice, impartiality, and ethical conduct. Throughout my career, I have embodied these values in every aspect of my work. As an attorney for Humboldt’s most disadvantaged, I have consistently advocated for fairness and equality under the law.
Each and every decision a judge hands down affects lives in our community. If elected as Humboldt County Superior Court Judge, I pledge to continue to uphold the highest ethical standards and to serve with integrity and fairness. I will prioritize the well-being of our community and ensure that every individual who enters the courtroom receives the fair and impartial treatment they deserve. I am committed to bringing a fresh perspective, sound judgment, and ethical behavior to the bench. Humboldt County deserves nothing less.
I urge the voters to carefully consider the values and qualifications of each candidate when casting their ballots. Together, we can ensure that our judiciary remains a beacon of integrity, fairness, and justice for all.
Sincerely,
April Van Dyke
Candidate for Humboldt County Superior Court Judge
