James Morrison is one common name listed under contributors on election paperwork filed by First District Supervisor Rex Bohn, Second District Supervisor Michelle Bushnell and Judge Gregory Kreis. On two of those forms, occupation is listed as attorney and on one retired. You will recognize a lot of the good ole boy and gals donors on Rex's 460 form including businesses and media.
Rex has been using the term good ole boy recently on his Facebook page in reference to himself and his buddies and supporters so they shouldn't mind the term. I have been using it for a while. More than Rex though, I like it better when it used in tips sent to me and online comments. People who read information on my blog as well other media sources use it and other information on my blog regardless of where they may mention it online. Some credit; some don't. As long as they are reading information from various sources is all that matters. The people's choices are different from those the good ole boys chose and support. I prefer to be the people's choice.
Absent from the list of donors for the 2024 local primary election paperwork are certain names such as the Arkleys, McBeths, Ulanseys and others. That either means they did not donate or donated under the required amount of $99 or less which allows donors to stay anonymous and is not required to be reported. Donations and gifts under $100 including $99 or less from 4 or 5 members from one family is a nice chunk of money. And that does happen and has happened in local campaigns.
Third District Supervisor Mike Wilson received $1,500 from a Sacramento's Trout Political Action Committee.
In the latest 497 filing by Humboldt Superior Judge Candidate April. Van Dyke, she loaned herself $4,000. If you look at previous FPPC paperwork, I reported, incumbent Judge Gregory Kreis loaned his campaign $5,325.
Kreis' biggest donations are the mysterious Judicial Excellence Together and himself. I previously reported on those filings. Kreis has some good ole boy donors with individual donations but when you compare the numbers of individual donations to Ms. Van Dyke donors, Kreis's fundraising is anemic. Ms. Van Dyke has been in the area for a lesser time and her individual donors are not good ole boys and gals.
If you don't read my blog daily or regularly, you can look up all the FPPC paperwork and forms filed on the Humboldt election website. You can access all previous coverage via the search feature on the blog.
