On Dec. 13, 2021, at about 6:24 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the Blue Lake area conducted a vehicle investigation on an occupied vehicle parked in the area of Hatchery Road.
Deputies contacted two individuals, a male and a female, inside the vehicle. The male, 34-year-old Gene Chester Nelson, was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest. Gene was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of Nelson incident to arrest, deputies located approximately 0.4 grams of methamphetamine and over 0.8 grams of suspected fentanyl. Deputies also located drug paraphernalia.
Nelson was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession of a narcotic controlled substance (HS 11350(a)), possession of a controlled substance (HS 11377(a)), possession of a controlled substance paraphernalia (HS 11364(a)) and violation of probation (PC 1203.2(a)(2)), in addition to a warrant for parole revocation (PC 3000.08(f)).
The female was released at the scene.
