Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of Trinidad Rancheria  and Pacific Affilates, Inc. sue each other

A case management conference was scheduled on December 6 in a lawsuit filed by Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of Trinidad Rancheria  vs. Pacific Affilates, Inc. There is a cross complaint filed with Roes 1-100 as parties. These are some of the court records and court minutes. Pacific Affiliates is owned and operated by Travis Schneider.

Another CMC is scheduled on January 3.

The problem with these cases is allegations are made,  most of these cases quietly resolve, very or no little information is public and business goes on as usual.

1/3: Motion hearing scheduled on 1/6/21 for summary adjudication.

From Cornell law: "Summary adjudication is a pre-trial procedural device that allows a court to determine the merits of a particular cause of action, an affirmative defense, a claim for damages, and/or an issue of duty. The purpose of summary adjudication is to reduce the cost and length of litigation."

I did a post in July about Cassandra Hesseltine suing Cher-ae Heights. There was a CMC on December 3. The next CMC is 4/8/22.

These civil cases and CMC go on and on so if anything resolves or significant happens, I will add an update to this post.

I did a post previously on a lawsuit  Schneider filed against City of Eureka. He filed another one. I looked it up and the case was dismissed without prejudice. The one case management conference was not even heard because of the dismissal.

Most of these cases resolve quietly. People with the big bucks sue each other, hate any publicity but it is public information just as any lawsuit about average John or Jane Doe. CMC and civil cases have very little information in court hearings and court records and lengthy filings. Local lawyers make big bucks on the Humboldt "big guys" fighting each other. Nothing changes in Humboldt with these lawsuits.

Other media won't cover news I do. They know their place and there are advertisers, locals and Humboldt connected who like it that way.

People certainly have no problem when my reporting is about someone else but apply the same standards and report factual news about them and all of a sudden, it is a problem. The hypocrisy is made worse because my reporting, the public information on this blog benefits everyone in the community, including these people. There are those who are genuinely grateful; others whose appreciation is convenient and self centered. I don't have time for the latter.

The Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of Trinidad Rancheria  vs. Pacific Affilates, Inc. lawsuit was dismissed in 2023.
