Are HCSO and State witnesses going to call a federal agent a liar or contradict her because she clearly states multiple times there was no communication or authorization to gather evidence for the state trial?

With all the recent developments in Ray Christie's retrial in his Humboldt Superior Court criminal case, who knows what will happen on December 27?

The federal agent in charge of the October 2021 raid, Anitra Mackie, has provided a declaration to the defense for the December 27 hearing.

"On October 4, 2021, I called the Humboldt County Animal Control Services (HCACS) and requested to speak with someone that could assist with an upcoming operation. I was directed to Andre Hale. I identified myself to Hale, and informed her that I was looking for assistance with an upcoming operation scheduled for October 13, 2021 at 295 Jackson Ranch Rd in Arcata. "

"I told Hale that I was seeking assistance with possible loose animals located on the property after the property was secured; to which Hale stated that she could possibly provide two individuals for the operation. 6. The HCACS were asked to participate after the property was secured by law enforcement based upon the probability of loose animals i.e. pets, livestock. If animals were loose and uncontrollable, HCACS would assist agents as necessary, in order for the agents to commence the search. "

"There was no communication between Hale and HCACS about gathering evidence for the existing State trial against Christie. Furthermore, no authorization was given to animal control officers, Megan Nims and Taylor Pederson, to search for and gather evidence for the existing State trial against Christie. I coordinated a virtual briefing, which HCACS attended. I informed all participants during the briefing that there would be “No Social media posts, comments, and statements to news media; No photos are to be taken for personal and/or individual agency use; No reports and/or summaries of the search warrant activities; and if any notes were taken, to provide a copy to me for my case file.”

"I did not communicate with HCSO regarding the existing State trial against Christie, nor did I communicate with HCSO about searching and gathering of evidence for the State trial. ."

"In addition to APHIS-IES, I communicated with CDFA, specifically Chad Parker, about providing additional personnel for the warrant for team planning purposes. Chad Parker was not a necessary participant; he was an optional participant for one of the USDA-OIG teams. Based upon the four properties listed in Attachment A of the search warrant, the teams were not evenly distributed, therefore, I requested CDFA personnel to complete teams. USDA-OIG works with CDFA on federal cases such as this due to the overlapping programs managed and overseen by APHIS-IES and CDFA, i.e. brand inspections and traceability of cattle. I invited CDFA to participate in the search warrant to provide additional personnel for the assigned teams, and to provide their expertise and knowledge of brand inspections and brand inspection certificates, which are relevant to the federal criminal investigation. I assigned and instructed Parker, and additional CDFA personnel to work alongside USDA-OIG team members to provide expertise and knowledge on issues raised regarding branding, inspections, and certificates. I did not communicate with Parker about the existing State trial against Christie, and I did not instruct, nor authorize Parker to work with Sergeant McCall in gathering evidence related to Christie’s animal cruelty charges. The only authority granted to Parker was to assist USDA-OIG team members with his expertise that involved the search for items associated with the federal investigation."

"I was not aware that photos and/or video were taken by HCSO during the search warrant, until notified by the Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) assigned to this investigation, who received that information from defense counsel. Once notified, I requested all digital media and reports that arose from the search conducted on October 13, 2021. "

Chad Parker mentioned above by Agent Mackie is running for Tehama County Sherriff.

Humboldt Superior Court, Humboldt DA, local law enforcement and the "Humboldt way" bullies are used to getting their way. They show no sign of backing down. State agencies are equally arrogant.

I had zero faith in the local court system regarding transparency, open court and following the law before covering this case and even less since they assigned this case to Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis. If you are a regular reader of my blog; no explaination necessary. The rest of you can read up on the posts which are only a snapshot of my blog coverage for 7 years.

I am documenting every development in this case for many reasons. The truth and complete information to the public being paramount.

What is happening to Ray Christie is not an anomaly.

Deputy District Attorney Steven Steward wants to use evidence from the October federal raid which he claims was legally seized. The federal prosecutor has said there was no communication and no coordination between the feds and the state. Mr. Steward has been silent so who knows.

HCSO PIO Samantha Karges responded to me promptly about the federal raid and said HCSO assisted. They did. DA Maggie Fleming and Deputy DA Steven Steward have not responded to me for months about this case. They don't respond to Christie's attorney,Mr. Rick Richmond.
