Prepare yourself for more chaos with next year's judicial assignments

(Humboldt's next Presiding Judge is Gregory Elvine-Kreis pictured in front with grey shorts)

Starting first of the year, there will be some changes in the Humboldt County courts. The not so brilliant minds that changed how courts run have come up with more wacky ideas which will create more chaos and backlog in the local courts.

Presiding Judge is Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis and Assistant Presiding Judge is Judge Kelly Neel. I already reported on this on December 15. There are more changes including courtrooms and assignments.

Judge Christopher Wilson and Judge Kaleb Cockrum will take all the pleas and do all the sentencing.

Judge Neel and Judge  Elvine-Kreis will do all jury trials and sentencing for those trials.

Judge Timothy Canning will be assigned to civil cases. Judge Lawrence Killoran will hear family law cases.

Courtroom 1 Judge Kelly Neel (trial)

Courtroom 2 Judge Kaleb Cockrum (criminal)

Courtroom 3 Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis (trial)

Courtroom 4 Judge Timothy Canning (civil)

Courtroom 5 Judge Christopher Wilson (criminal)

Courtroom 6 Judge Lawrence Killoran

Courtroom 7 Judge Joyce Hinrichs (outgoing presiding Judge)

Courtroom 8 Commisioner Fran Greenleaf (small claims, early resolution)

Some Judges took a lot of vacation this year; others did not so in January, February and March 2022, Visiting Judges from Nevada, Sonoma and San Francisco will be in Humboldt. In addition to paying for them to be here, the Judges are housed at the Carter House. I know because I have personally seen them there.
