Kidnapping suspect turns himself in, arrested in Oregon, victim is safe


The suspect of a kidnapping in the Fieldbrook area has been arrested in Oregon and the remaining victim confirmed safe.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified this afternoon (August 5, 2020) by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that kidnapping suspect George Rose was located near Talent, OR. Rose reportedly approached a resident’s home, requesting assistance in contacting law enforcement to turn himself in.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies responded, locating Rose and the victim, Joy Hong, who was found alive and unharmed. Rose was subsequently taken into custody.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their coordination and swift response to apprehend Rose and bring Hong to safety.
