Humboldt County’s case count remains at 50 as there were no additional positive cases for the fourth day in a row.
Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said, “Other areas are seeing this slowing or pause in apparent transmission, and I am optimistic that our measures are having an impact. As we use this time to enhance preparedness, we are also looking at how we move forward through this pandemic.”
However, Frankovich cautioned that COVID-19 is still present and limiting the pace of transmission is essential. “It is imperative that spread happens gradually so that the health care system is never overwhelmed and unable to provide quality care for everyone,” she said. “Meanwhile, researchers are working hard on developing effective treatment which can also change the trajectory of this disease. I am deeply grateful to all Humboldt residents who are abiding by shelter-in-place orders and following recommendations that are keeping us all safe.”

The Public Health Laboratory currently has a capacity of approximately 500 tests and can process about 55 samples a day with an approximate turnaround time of 48 to 72 hours.
The whole shutdown was rationalized not to keep everyone from getting the CV, but done to flatten the curve to allow our medical system to handle the patient load. That goal has been achieved, even according to the IMHE (sic?) model. Hospitals now have the resources they need to handle the patients, thanks to federal mediation in the process. Any local flareups can be handled at the state and local level.
ReplyDeleteanyone who wants to continue practicing social distancing , the wearing of mask, staying away from crowds, can continue to do so. For us older people with this and that going on,we probably will do so.but that shouldn't stop the country from returning to normal. when regular flu season comes around every year, what do they tell people? right!, avoid crowds, other sick people, be aware of your weakness, etc. same here
This year's regular flu season count 85,000+ NO ONE has said a peep.
