Trial confirmation was scheduled for murder suspect Ronald Loueiro on February 3. An additional trial confirmation was scheduled at defense request for February 20. Jury trial is schedulef on March 16.
Defense says there is outstanding discovery; specifically Loureiro's blood sample that was taken by HCSO. People said all discovery has been turned over but happy to sit and "go over tgeir books with defense."
If People have not tested the blood sample, defense will. If discovery is outstanding, Mr. Tipps will file a motion to continue.
Deputy District Attorney Shelly Small is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps is Loureiro's attorney. Mr. David Nims was present in court for Jackie Carter.
Victim is Vernon Weatherford. As in several Humboldt cases, there is more to this story. As I reported last time, someone who knows both parties told me Loureiro knew the victim and that this is a love triangle. The woman involved with both men was in court at the last hearing.
