Was discovery the only reason Aaron Parker's preliminary hearing was being continued or is he getting a private attorney?

Preliminary hearing for Aaron Albert Parker, the man charged with one count of Contact with a minor for sexual offense and three counts of indecent exposure was scheduled for this morning. The incidents allegedly occurred near Eureka High School.

Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm and Parker's attorney is Deputy Public Defender Brie Bennett both asked for a joint continuance.

One of the reasons was that defense was just given some discovery which included interviews. Before the case was formally called, Ms. Timm had told Judge Christopher Wilson she had planned to request a continuance.

Parker entered a 10 day time waiver. Intervention is scheduled for July 10; preliminary hearing for August 5.

Is Parker getting a new attorney? Ms. Heidi Holmquist was talking to Parker with Ms. Bennett in court this morning.
