EPD prevents crime, cleans up alley and reduces criminal activity

"Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is defined as a multi-disciplinary approach for reducing crime through urban and environmental design and the management and use of built environments."

"These pictures are from an alley in Eureka.  The overgrown shrubbery provided shelter and became an encampment which led to ongoing problems.  EPD responded to the location and cleaned up the area, making it less desirable for nuisance and criminal activity.  Code Enforcement was also notified.  "

"This is a prime example of CPTED in action.  Quick environmental changes can make positive impacts in our community."-- EPD

  1. That's the land owner's responsibility. Why weren't they told/cited to clear the garbage/brush? Police/city employees have better projects to do than this token gesture
