San Francisco police officers sue the city claiming discrimination because they are white
Several news outlets have reported on a federal lawsuit filed by 12 current officers claiming they were discriminated against because they were white males and therefore passed over for promotions. The 13th plaintiff, a retired sergeant, claims that she was not promoted to lieutenant because she is a white lesbian.
The lawsuit filed on June 11 alleges that the city currently uses banding, "an obscure and biased promotional process" to advance certain candidates.
