HCSO Undersheriff J.D. Braud stopped by Fortuna's Coffee with a Cop
Beautiful, sunny weather contributed to making Wednesday morning’s Coffee with a Cop a huge success in Fortuna.
Officers from Fortuna Police Department met with community residents while sharing coffee, and donuts at Fortuna’s Starbuck’s Coffee in Strongs Creek Plaza.
Among those who stopped by to share in a warm beverage, and chat with community residents were Fortuna City Council members Tami Trent and Jeremy Stanfield, Humboldt County Under-Sheriff Justin Braud, and Fortuna Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Renee Lindsay.
Most people who came by said that they were simply there to thank Fortuna’s Officers for their service to the community. One young woman came prepared with a set of questions that she confidently asked officers, and when she was done was invited to consider a career in law enforcement.
The “Coffee with a Cop” program has proven to be a way to strengthen partnerships between the community and the police officers who serve its residents.
According to Police Chief William Dobberstein, “The program allows citizens to get answers to their questions in a relaxed and non-threatening atmosphere, while helping build a relationship with our officers that strengthens crime prevention efforts in our community.”
According to Dobberstein, the event was sponsored, hosted, and financed by Fortuna’s Starbucks Coffee in Strongs Creek Plaza. He offered praise and appreciation for the manager, Jessica Perez and her staff.
