Jonathon Albert Boone arrested for attempted murder, criminal threats and various other charges
On June 26, 2019, at about 9:21 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 2300 block of Grace Avenue in McKinleyville for the report of a physical altercation occurring, with one male subject armed with a knife.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located the suspect, 38-year-old Jonathon Albert Boone, outside of the residence. As deputies attempted to take Boone into custody, Boone became combative. Due to Boone’s continued disregard of deputy commands and physical resistance, a sheriff’s deputy deployed his department issued taser. Boone continued to resist deputies and was taken into custody following further struggle.
After taking Boone into custody, deputies located an 85-year-old male stabbing victim inside the residence. The victim was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to the neck and shoulder.
Upon further investigation deputies learned that earlier in the evening Boone and the victim had been in a confrontation, resulting in Boone exiting the residence. Boone later re-entered the residence, physically assaulted a 39-year-old female victim inside, then reportedly stabbed a dog, resulting in the dog’s death. According to the male victim, a struggle over the knife ensued, at which time the male victim was injured. Boone then reportedly dropped the knife and fled to the outside of the residence.
Boone was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance prior to booking at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
Upon clearance, Boone will be booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of attempted murder, elder abuse, robbery, animal cruelty, brandishing a weapon, criminal threats, battery, resisting arrest and violation of Post Release Community Supervision.
